For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to build a digital business—one that allows me to work from anywhere with just my laptop. The idea of freedom, flexibility, and financial independence has always appealed to me. However, like many others, I wasn’t sure where to start.
The Beginning of My Digital Journey
Last year, I started freelancing as a Search Quality Rater (SQR), evaluating search results for quality. This experience broadened my perspective and fueled my curiosity about the digital world—particularly how successful online businesses are built. It sparked my curiosity about how the digital world operates and how successful online businesses are built.
To support my personal growth, I began gratitude journaling, which helped me reflect, organize my thoughts, and gain clarity. Simultaneously, I made reading a daily habit, strengthening my appreciation for storytelling and knowledge sharing.
Exploring online businesses also made me more aware of the rapid rise of AI, automation, and digital entrepreneurship. This realization reinforced that having an online business isn’t just an option—it’s becoming a necessity. I wanted to create something of my own that would provide both financial security and creative fulfillment.
Exploring Publishing and E-Commerce
I wanted a side business, so I started browsing YouTube and came across content about publishing low-content books on Amazon KDP. While it wasn’t as successful as I had hoped—that’s a whole other story—publishing low-content books on KDP helped me develop graphic design skills, along with other important aspects of digital publishing. It helped me grasp the publishing process, master key steps, and gain insights from those who had already succeeded in the industry. This experience also opened my eyes to the immense success of Amazon and the vast opportunities within the digital space.
My research into Amazon’s ecosystem led me to Jeff Bezos’ business model. Seeing how Amazon evolved into one of the most powerful companies in the world, I realized how much opportunity there is in the digital space. This discovery opened the door to affiliate marketing—earning commissions by promoting products online.
At this stage, I asked myself three key questions:
- What do I truly enjoy?
- What are my strengths?
- What kind of business aligns with my passions?
Overcoming the Fear of Learning Something New
Being in my 40s, learning new skills isn’t always easy. There’s always some level of fear and hesitation when stepping into the unknown. But I’ve always had a deep love for learning and a strong belief in lifelong self-improvement. No matter how old I get, I will always be a learner.
One thing I knew for sure: I wanted to leverage my Korean background. This realization led me to focus on a niche that made perfect sense—Korean beauty and anti-aging products. Given my cultural background and familiarity with the industry, I recognized the immense value of Korean skincare, known for its innovation and effectiveness. Recently, anti-aging products and solutions have become even more significant in my life as I navigate this stage of my 40s, reinforcing my desire to share insights, recommendations, and research-backed information to help others on the same journey.
Finding My Voice in a Noisy World
We live in an era where everyone has a platform, and social media has made it easier than ever for anyone with internet access to share their thoughts. I was never someone who posted regularly, nor was I particularly open about my life. The idea of sharing my thoughts publicly—whether I was speaking into the void or unexpectedly reaching a large audience—felt intimidating. However, once I wrote my first post, the process became more natural and less daunting.
Every interaction and connection brought unexpected value to my life. In a world full of noise, thoughtful voices matter. I hope to be one of them. Through my posts, I aim to connect with like-minded individuals who share my interests, challenges, and questions. Every piece of content serves as a stepping stone, and each reader interaction opens the door to new ideas and opportunities.
I don’t know exactly where this path leads, but I love that I’m enhancing my skill set every day. This space has become both my classroom and my canvas, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Expanding Beyond Beauty: My Interest in AI
As I continued my blogging journey, I realized I wanted to expand beyond beauty products. While skincare and self-care remain my core focus, I’ve developed a deep interest in AI and how it can be leveraged in online businesses.
AI is revolutionizing content creation, product marketing, and business operations. I see huge potential in integrating AI tools into my blogging workflow, whether it’s for SEO optimization, content automation, or enhancing the user experience. Learning about AI isn’t just about staying ahead of the curve; it’s about future-proofing my business.
I began writing about the digital tools I use for blogging, sharing my journey as I explore the vast range of apps and resources available to boost productivity. With countless tools available, I’m testing, refining, and identifying what delivers real value for me.
